STATISTICS MANAGER

  Background:                The Moses Kotane Institute is an entity of the KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Government through the Department of Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs (EDTEA), with a mandate to conduct world class research into training, skills development, and provincial strategies economic sections; to strategically lead in innovation and maritime co-ordination and implementation activities to respond to the needs of the provincial economy. Coordinate the provision of statistical services for multiple studies and proposals. Providing expert specialist statistical advice to other researchers in the Strategy, Risk and Research Executive, as required. Managing and providing informed input to fulfilling internal and external requests for data. Line managing the statistics and team and taking overall responsibility for the individual development plans for its members in line with the expectations of the MKI. Oversee the work of more junior statistical staff assisting on projects. May contribute to the development of departmental systems to ensure timely and cost-effective provision of high-quality statistical services. Management of sub-unit budget. Develop and maintain stakeholder relationships. People Management.   Background:     The Moses Kotane Institute is an entity of the KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Government through the Department of Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs (EDTEA), with a mandate to conduct world class research into training, skills development, and provincial economic strategies.  The MKI will also strategically lead in innovation and maritime co-ordination and implementation activities to respond to the needs of the provincial economy. It also coordinates interaction between line functions or sector departments established or envisaged provincial government training institutions, tertiary institutions, and other external service providers. The institution is looking for experienced individuals to fulfil this newly envisioned role of the CEO.  Applications are invited from South African Citizens, willing to relocate to KwaZulu-Natal. Requirements:              The candidate must have extensive executive experience.  The minimum requirement is a Masters degree from a recognized university in any of the following fields (Business Management, Engineering; Finance; Innovation; Technology). Driver’s License. A PhD will be an added advantage. Experience:                Minimum of 5 years’ experience at Executive Management level.
