Background: The Moses Kotane Institute is looking to appoint suitably qualified KZN youth (between 18-35 years to this position. The opportunity is not full-time but will be aligned with research projects from time to time. Minimum Requirements & Master’s Degree (NQF Level 9) Competencies: Computer Literacy, Ability to operate a smart mobile device, good communication skills, Proficient in English and isiZulu, Computer literacy (MS Word, Excel,); A driver’s licence Responsibilities: Supervise fieldwork data collectors. Carry out the data collection process in accordance with all reasonable instructions given by the MKI (i.e., going door-to door to collect information from individuals and/or households; utilise the work tools allocated for the data collection). Collect data with the level of care, skill, competence, diligence, and judgement which may be expected of a professional. The Moses Kotane Institute (MKI) is looking to appoint an experienced and suitably qualified South African Citizen to fill the exciting position of an Independent Contractor: Cannabis Construction Project Manager to establish three (3) licensed medical cannabis cultivation sites in rural Kwa-Zulu Natal. REQUIREMENTS: Project Management Professional Certificate or Engineering Degree in civil or built environment. Five-year experience in project management, valid driver’s license. CORE COMPENTENCIES: Experience in project management, Experience in construction, managing of greenhouses and laboratories. Ability to get up to speed with new processes/procedures and able to adapt readily to change, Ability to work in cross-functional projects/teams, Excellent co-ordination and project management and Computer literacy (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and/or Project). RESPONSIBILITIES: The incumbent will inter alia be responsible for the following: Construction of three pilot sites (1 hectare each) for the commercialization of medical cannabis. Assist with managing the construction of greenhouses for cannabis medical purposes. Complete the project within 3 months (subject to weather conditions). Set project construction management guidelines and standards; in conjunction with the CFO. Comply with company specific Safety Health and Environment (SHE) policies and procedures and other legal requirements. Provide high level expert technical assurance to project teams/individuals and increase awareness of technology advancements/innovations to ensure access to appropriate outputs to meet business deliverables. Identify, report, and manage critical functional risks through appropriate mitigation plans/actions governance: ensure function adheres to governance, policies and standards, statutory and legal compliance. REQUIREMENTS: Master’s degree in Economic Development, Journalism, or a Master’s degree with a focus on social development (a doctoral degree in these fields will be an advantage). At least five years’ overall experience in research-writing, editing or publishing programs. Demonstrated experience in editing research or publication with references from traceable institutions. Has worked in a higher learning environment or published, research. International experience will be an added advantage. If non-South Africa, right of work must be provided. Applications are invited for the position of Independent Contractor Research Specialist: Statistician based at La Mercy. The successful applicant will be reporting to the Executive Manager: Maritime and Econometrics Background: The Moses Kotane Institute (MKI) is looking to appoint an experienced and suitably qualified South African Citizens to fill the position of an Independent Contractor- Research Specialist: Statistician. The position will be responsible for assisting with conducting research, collation analysis of statistical data, reporting, overall research project coordination and work with MKI and provincial data sets, advise on storage and record keeping of such data. Minimum Requirements: Applicants must have a valid master’s degree in Statistics at NQF Level 09 from an accredited tertiary institution. (A PhD degree will be an advantage). Minimum 5 years’ experience in statistics or econometrics conducting research, data analysis and reporting. Five years’ research experience. Core competencies: Knowledge of statistical software packages, demonstrates a high attention to detail, ensuring the accuracy of work completed, good co-ordination and project management skills, Ability to understand and apply specified field and/or survey research procedures and protocols. above average oral and written communication, networking, developing relationships, organising, and prioritising, technical and professional knowledge/skills, project management skills and accuracy. Responsibilities: Position Duties, inter alia: Develop research protocols, assessments, and evaluation tools, Research Project Coordination, conduct assigned research, Collect Data, Analyse Data, Design and write research proposals for project approval, Coordinate pilot projects/feasibility studies as and when required, Develop research standards and mentor junior researchers, Maintain, and enhance academic partnerships with academic institutions and prepare for and engage in conference papers. Background: The Moses Kotane Institute is an entity of the KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Government through the Department of Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs (EDTEA), with a mandate to conduct world class research into training, skills development, and provincial strategies economic sections; to strategically lead in innovation and maritime co-ordination and implementation activities to respond to the needs of the provincial economy. It also coordinates interaction between line functions or sector departments established or envisaged provincial government training institutions, tertiary institutions, and other external service providers. The institution is looking for the experienced and qualifying individuals to fulfil this new role. The Program is a partnership initiative with Municipalities to promote the much-needed Digital Skilling in their respective communities. The Moses Kotane Institute (MKI) is looking for a strategic, dynamic, motivated and an energetic suitably qualified South African citizen to serve as an independent contractor: Acting CFO of the entity. REQUIREMENTS: Postgraduate qualification in Accounting or Finance (Level 8). CA (SA) would be an added advantage.COMPETENCIES: Minimum of 10 years financial management experience in the public sector of which at least 5 years should be at Senior Management level. RESPONSIBILITIES: A chief financial officer (CFO) is the senior executive responsible for leading the financial actions of MKI. The CFO's responsibilities include audit and risk management, governance and compliance, financial planning, control, reporting, and any other necessary responsibility allowable by law.
