The Moses Kotane Institute (MKI) is an entity of the KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Government through the Department of Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs (EDTEA), with a mandate to conduct world class research into training, skills development, and provincial strategic economic sectors and to strategically lead on innovation and maritime coordination and implementation activities to respond to the needs of provincial economy.

Proposals are hereby invited from suitably qualified services provider with a proven track record for knowledge repository, a system that will systematically capture, organise and store research outputs and knowledge generated by the Moses Kotane Institute, the Department of Economic Development, Tourism and all its entities. MKI therefore invites suitable and relevant firms to offer their services by putting forward their proposals as outlined in the Terms of Reference (TORs).

  The Moses Kotane Institute is an entity of the KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Government through the Department of Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs (EDTEA), with a mandate to conduct world class research into training, skills development, and provincial strategic economic sections; and to strategically lead in innovation and maritime co-ordination  and implementation activities to respond to the needs of the provincial economy. It also coordinates interaction between line functions or sector departments established or envisaged provincial government training institutions, tertiary institutions, and other external service providers. Proposals are hereby invited from suitably qualified, professional and experienced service providers for MKI Systems’ automation, integration and digitisation. The objective of this project is to develop and implement a comprehensive, secure and integrated information management system that can adequately integrate information from different systems across MKI departments and projects. The appointed service provider will be required to provide the following services:
  • Automation of the MKI current processes.
  • Develop and/or implement the following modules: of Human Resource Management (existing system), Procurement Management (existing and requires upgrade), Travel Management (new), Financial Management (existing) and Document Management (new), learner management (existing and requires upgrade), project management (new), legal & contracts (existing and requires upgrade) and the underpinning intranet.
  • Integrate all systems used into one comprehensive and secure MKI system with underpinning architectural infrastructure.
