The Moses Kotane Institute (MKI) is looking to appoint an experienced and suitably qualified South African Citizen to fill the position of an Independent Contractor: Lead Researcher. Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer the successful incumbent will be responsible for coordinating and executing urgent, strategic special research projects.
Minimum Requirements: Master’s Degree in Business, Economics, Public Administration, Sciences, Economic Development or any related fields from an accredited tertiary institution. (Being a Ph.D. candidate or holding a doctoral degree will be an advantage); At least three years’ overall experience in research (qualitative and quantitative); Proficient user of one of the following statistical software(Stata, R, Python). A Valid driver’s license and own or access to privately owned transport.

Must demonstrate initiative, drive and the ability to define research strategies from scratch. Successful track record of research proposal writing. Ability to write clear English language evaluation reports. Strong qualitative evaluation skills. Willingness to travel and support field teams where necessary. Demonstrated ability to manage large and time-bound research. Ability to manage budgets and ensure cost-efficient and timely implementation; and Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to understand client needs.
Responsibilities: Data Management of the knowledge repository; Management of the MKI Journal. Execution of special projects. Management of the editorial function. Local and international promotion of MKI as a research institute.
Term and Remuneration: 1 year contract at (B2 – Partial Overheads, B2.2, No Mark-up, Level 6 to 8 at R368)
