The Moses Kotane Institute (MKI) is looking to appoint four experienced and suitably qualified services of Research Editors (x4) to ensure that all MKI published research/articles are of international standard.
REQUIREMENTS: Master’s degree in Economic Development, Journalism, or a Master’s degree with a focus on social development (a doctoral degree in these fields will be an advantage). At least five years’ overall experience in research-writing, editing or publishing programs. Demonstrated experience in editing research or publication with references from traceable institutions. Has worked in a higher learning environment or published, research. International experience will be an added advantage. If non-South Africa, right of work must be provided.
CORE COMPENTENCIES: Competent PC user and can work remotely with minimal supervision. Dynamic and highly committed to working in a fast-paced environment. Excellent analytical skills, attention to detail and ability to follow set deadlines, good verbal and writing skills, good time and project management skills, and willing to work long hours.
RESPONSIBILITIES: The incumbent will undertake the following: (1) Edit MKIJ manuscripts, MKI research work (reports, papers) and other MKI written assignments that require editing; (2) Be part of the MKIJ editorial board; (3) Ensure that the submitted content is free from sexist, racial and ethnical inappropriateness; (4) Proofreading and designing layout reports according to prescribed MKI format; (5) Applying uniform referencing style throughout the articles/reports.
TERMS OF APPOINTMENT: The incumbent to the above position will be offered a 1-year Independent Contractor appointment with remuneration at B2 – Partial Overheads, B2.2, No Mark-up, Level 6 to 8 at R368 p/h.
