RURAL AND TOWNSHIP SHOPS ASSESSORS

Background:                The Moses Kotane Institute is an entity of the KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Government through the Department of Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs (EDTEA), with a mandate to conduct world class research into training, skills development, and provincial strategic economic sectors; and to strategically lead in innovation and maritime co-ordination  and implementation activities to respond to the needs of the provincial economy. It also coordinates interaction between line functions or sector departments established or envisaged, provincial government training institutions, tertiary institutions and other external service providers.

The Institute seeks to appoint Shop Assessors to assist with the gathering of data from selected KZN based Rural and Township shops for the provincial revitalisation program. Applicants are invited from Unemployed South African Youth (between the ages of 18-35) who reside in the following Districts: Amajuba, Harry Gwala, Ugu, iLembe, King Cetshwayo, Umzinyathi, Uthukela, Zululand, EThekwini, Umkhanyakude and Umgungundlovu

Minimum Requirements:   A Bachelor’s Degree or National Diploma in Accounting. A Bachelor’s Degree in other related fields would also be considered. Qualifications must be from an Accredited Tertiary Institution. The applicant must have a Valid Driver’s (not less than 3 years old) and be able to drive. Applicants must be fluent isiZulu and English.

Duration:                      +/-06 Months

Remuneration:            R350.00 per day

Requirements & Competencies:

Excellent written and spoken English with a focus on Data Analysis. Efficient time management skills with ability to set and meet tight deadlines. Display knowledge of financial and commercial concepts. Applicants must be experienced in engaging with people, collecting data and information. Be computer literate and be able to use electronic gadgets such as tablets and smart phones. Ability to use phone or Tablet Apps. Must own a smart phone.

Duties:            

  • Data collection from Rural and Township Spaza shops;
  • Consolidate and prepare comprehensive report on data collected;
  • Liaising with all relevant stakeholders and perform general administration.
