Background: The Moses Kotane Institute is an entity of the KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Government through the Department of Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs (EDTEA), with a mandate to conduct world class research into training, skills development, and provincial strategic economic sections; and to strategically lead in innovation and maritime co-ordination and implementation activities to respond to the needs of the provincial economy. It also coordinates interaction between line functions or sector departments established or envisage provincial government training institutions, tertiary institutions, and other external service providers. The institution seeks to appoint experienced and qualifying individuals, as Research Editors in its Research and Development Unit. Applications are invited from South African Citizens, residing in KwaZulu-Natal.
Requirements: Master’s Degree in language practice or related fields. English 1st Language. Driver’s License
Experience: Ten years’ experience in editing.
Duration: 12 months – Project specific
Remuneration: DPSA Level 11
Specific Expertise: Excellent analytical skills, attention to detail and ability to follow set deadlines. Competent PC user.

Responsibilities: Edit theoretical and empirical research papers submitted to the MKI Journal and other MKI written assignments that require editing. Proofread, edit and layout articles according to prescribed MKI format. Ensure correctness of language, grammar, punctuation, spelling and writing style. Ensure content appropriateness to ensure that it is free from sexist, racial and ethnical inappropriateness. Ensure employment of a uniform reference style and correct word count for articles.
