Background: The Moses Kotane Institute is an entity of the KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Government through the Department of Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs (EDTEA), with a mandate to conduct world class research into training, skills development, and provincial strategies economic sections; to strategically lead innovation and maritime co-ordination and implementation activities to respond to the needs of the provincial economy. It also coordinates interaction between line functions or sector departments established or envisage provincial government training institutions, tertiary institutions, and other external service providers. The institution is looking for the experienced and qualifying individuals to fulfil this new role. Applications are invited from South African Citizens, residing in KwaZulu-Natal.
Requirements: Master’s Degree in Economics / Econometrics / Maritime Economics at (NQF 9). Driver’s license. A Doctoral Degree (NQF 10) will be an added advantage
Experience: Minimum 5 years’ experience in Economics or Maritime Economics (research and advisory) at a management level.
Remuneration: DPSA Level 14
Duration 5 years, renewable based on performance
Skills: Ability to deliver technical solutions based on the needs of the business. In-depth knowledge of the South African Government Socio-Economic strategies. Strategical and Practical Management Skills. Organisational and planning Skills, good verbal and written communication skills, computer literate at an advanced level. Flexibility. Adaptability. professional and ethical conduct. Good interpersonal skills. Report writing.

Responsibilities: Responsible for executive leadership and development of strategic and operational plans for the Unit. Business research. Accountable for decisions relating to the Economic Development and Maritime Economic programs driven by the Institute. To champion the operationalisation of the provincial Economic Development and Maritime strategies.
