Background: The Moses Kotane Institute is an entity of the KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Government through the Department of Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs (EDTEA), with a mandate to conduct world class research into training, skills development, and provincial economic strategies. The MKI will also strategically lead in innovation and maritime co-ordination and implementation activities to respond to the needs of the provincial economy. It also coordinates interaction between line functions or sector departments established or envisaged provincial government training institutions, tertiary institutions, and other external service providers. The institution is looking for experienced individuals to fulfil this newly envisioned role of the CEO. Applications are invited from South African Citizens, willing to relocate to KwaZulu-Natal.
Requirements: The candidate must have extensive executive experience. The minimum requirement is a Masters degree from a recognized university in any of the following fields (Business Management, Engineering; Finance; Innovation; Technology). Driver’s License. A PhD will be an added advantage.
Experience: Minimum of 5 years’ experience at Executive Management level.
Remuneration: DPSA Level 15
Skills: Business acumen. Research experience, Fundraising Experience, Strong network with national and international research organisations, strong academic writing capability, organisational and planning skills at executive level, strong verbal and written communication skills, ability to operate at all levels (ministerial and community level); computer literacy at an advanced level. Workshop facilitation. Flexibility. Adaptability. Professional and ethical conduct. Good interpersonal skills. Report writing.

Responsibilities: To provide overall strategic leadership, management, administration, policy coordination and compliance of the Institute, towards achieving effective governance and performance excellence in accordance with the approved strategic goals and objectives.
