The Skills and Capacity Development program at the Moses Kotane Research Institute is focused on equipping individuals with the essential skills needed to participate effectively in the economy, either through employment or entrepreneurship. This program is designed to serve both the entrepreneurial community and the broader public, with a particular focus on key economic sectors that are prioritized in the province of KwaZulu-Natal.

By offering training and development opportunities that address the needs of sectors such as agriculture, manufacturing, tourism, renewable energy, and ICT, the Institute plays a pivotal role in preparing individuals for the demands of a rapidly evolving economy. The Institute is committed to skilling, upskilling, and reskilling the workforce to ensure that individuals are prepared to thrive in both established industries and emerging fields.

Through strategic partnerships with Sector Education and Training Authorities (SETAs) and other relevant organizations, the Institute provides high-quality, industry-aligned training programs. These initiatives are tailored to meet the specific needs of local businesses, entrepreneurs, and communities, ensuring that they are well-equipped to contribute to the economic growth of KwaZulu-Natal and beyond.

The goal of the program is to enhance the capacity of individuals to succeed in the modern workforce, whether by finding meaningful employment or by launching and growing their own businesses. The Institute is dedicated to building a sustainable talent pool, fostering innovation, and creating opportunities for local communities to engage in the global economy with confidence.
